Why the H would you want to reformat your operating system disk? You have the installation disk? Are you ready to spend 2 months tryin to restore your PC so everything works? Are you ready to lose files? Are you ready to lose programs you dont have the installation cds for? You dont sound like the type of person to attempt such a feat! You are better off stating your problems and why you want to!

Get a Windows 98 Start diskette, or download the program to make you own off the net. Boot from the floppy drive with the Windows 98 diskette in it, and when you get to the A:\ prompt, type in FORMAT C:/s to format the drive to FAT32 in DOS. Don't listen to people that don't understand your question. It is pretty simple when you know how.

The C drive is your boot drive. You need to boot to your CD then you can format your hard drive. If you boot to C then open your CD try to run the format program from your CD you won't be able to do it. Try burning a copy of the ultimate boot CD. Set your bios to boot to the CD rom first and reboot to the ultimate boot cd.
