the reason why i ask it because in a book im reading about ancient greece, there is a island called Lesbos. i think the plural term would be lesbians and during the Arachic Age (the time after the Bronze Age but before the Classical Age) there was a female poet named Sappho who wrote her feelings for another women. . So is there any connection between the word lesbian, the poet Sappho and the island of Lesbos?
