Actually they're only half right, while it is true that most dolphins live in the ocean, their is one dolphin that lives in the brackish water of the Amazon delta and can at time be found far upstream depending on the tides. Dolphins live in the ocean(with that exception), they are mammals, and in the same family of "toothed whales" as Orcas, Narwhals, Belugas, and Pilot Whales. As a result, the breath air and must come to the surface to breathe.

and also on inland water ways such as the east coast of the USA,
and there are white dolphins way up in the Amazon (Sweet water dolphins)

Best guess is salt water around Miami during the season, and just about anywhere they please in the off season.
