I have a simple 500 page paper due tomorrow (don't yell at me, cause its not as hard it it sounds, I do this all the time, and have papers like this due weekly) and I just have to select one poem which I can write the clearest and most thorough explanation.

I'm not asking you do this for for me, I would just like a little insight into the poems if you have read one, two, three or all of them. And yes, yahoo answers has increased my GPA. ^_^

To His Coy Mistress is a very simple poem to write about. I studied at GCSE (aged 16) and University.

Basically it is a metaphysical poem that deals with time being finite and therefore adopts a carpe diem attitude. The overall gist of a poem is the subject wants to sleep with a girl who wants to wait to consumate the relationship. Think about the way he brings in rivers - how the flow of a river can be seen to last forever. Also, the biblical reference "ten years before the flood" and "conversion of the jews"

Marvell sort of says it would be a crime to preserve virginity when you we only have now to live for. If you're adopting a metaphysical approach think about how the earth and universes relationship with time is brought in. You might also want to reference it to a John Donne poem

I love this poem by the way and could easily write 500 words on it.
