Are you talking about the first bombing under Doolittle? That was Tokyou less than 5 months after Pearl Harbor. Nagasaki and Hiroshima are the ones bombed with the atomic bomb.

The 1st USF air raid on Japan was carried out on 1942/04/18 by 16 B-25s led by USA Lt. Colonel Doolittle, only 4 months after Japan's Pearl Harbor attack.
13 of them bombed Tokyo, Yokohama and Yokosuka; 2 of them bombed Nagoya and 1 of them attacked Kobe.
Although the damages were minimum (45 civilians were killed, 135 wounded and 289 houses and building were destroyed), psychological impact on Japan was so large that Japanese Navy Commander Yamamoto decided to attack Midway on 1942/06/05.
Its amazing that many Americans (probably) above do not know this well-known raid (at least in Japan) which was designed by FDR purely in retaliation for Japan's Pearl Harbor attack, which must have been "a great source of moral(e) for the US forces" as hirschbp points out.
Nuclear-bombing on Hiroshima and Nagasaki was as late as in August 1945. Before that, as many as 185 cities in Japan, except for Kyoto and Nara (thanks to US respect for Japan's historical heritage), had been thoroughly bombed and destroyed between Mar and July 1945 by thousands of B-29 sorties from Iwojima and other Marshall islands.

Technically the first two cities attack by the US following Pearl harbor were Tokyo and Nagoya. That were struck by B-25's during "Doolittle's Raid" on the 18th of April 1942. Though the physical damage caused was nominal it was a great source of moral for the US forces.
