Any abnormal behavior or files that have just popped up. Hackers love to show off their hacking abilities so the hackage would probably be apparent ot obvious.

Get security software. There are a lot of shareware programs on www.download.com.

Look for Axe matks or hacksaw cuts on the case. They are a dead giveaway!!
