Has anyone fallen 3-5 feet onto your butt and suffered a sacral injury? Am trying to locate someone that has been successful with an accurate diagnosis and effective treatment for healing and/or pain. So far I'm unable to find a Dr. that understands the injury so have'nt been able to find a treatment. Nothing shows up on MRI or CT because it's primarily nerve damage. Would appreciate "any" info or input anyone might have. Thanks, Grammel

First of all I hope that they referred you to a neurologist. It is interesting because someone asked the other day about Cauda Equina which means horses tail. This is what the nerves in that area are called due to being of that shape. I came across a bunch of sites listing Cauda Equina Syndrome. Put a search in for that and see if it may apply to you. Be sure that you are seeing a reputable neurologist though and if your doctor has not refered you then have him do so. Here are a few sites to get you started.

I know how you feel but I don't have any good advice. Only time helped me. I banged my pelvis pretty good and broke my coccyx (tail bone) in a fall when I was about 10. For months it hurt all the time, I couldn't sit, stand or move with out the aching pain but it did eventually go away. Finally it only hurt on long car rides and then that eased off a lot too. It's been about 16 years and it still occasionally aches. But the majority of the pain was gone within 2-3 years. I wish I could give you more hope but time was the only help for me. I hope you feel better sooner though.

Have you talked to an osteopath? They are a mix of natural, alternative and conventional medicine. They're more common in other countries (than the US). If it's primarily nerve damage you might also try an accupuncturist. I have had fantastic results for joint pain and damage with accupuncture.

I have! It hurts! My suggestion: do you have any friends with horses? If so - many people hit the ground after a good buck off or rearing of their horse and damage tailbones / nerves etc - ask a horse friend to ask other horse people if they have had the same type of injury. You probably will find someone with a good doc quicker than you think! Good luck - (I know how it feels!)

Maybe look into osteopathic medicine or even try chiropratic care.Chiropractors will also show you stretching exercises that may be of bennifit in relieving pressure on the nerves.
