It's amazing how many people think I'm a Republican or a Conservative. I guess if you're not a Liberal, you MUST be a Republican and/or a Conservative. LOL!

Today's liberals were yesterdays Democrats. Unfortunately, they have taken over too much of the party. The public liberal/Democrat has been led down a primrose path by true liberal politicians. Unfortunately, this path leads to socialism not liberty.

Already, after many decades of both parties' leaderships, our liberties have been taken away in favor of "providing for the people"; welfare/ADC/food stamps/SSI disability for drug users and the like/housing/programs of all shapes and sizes. These programs have caused America to expect to be taken care of by the government rather than relying on their own hard work and ingenuity.

Over time, that leads far too many people into a mind frame of 'government handouts'. Most do not realize that this is what the are asking for or expecting. Those who fail to think things through also fail to realize that it is their own, freedoms being taken away.

I think when the liberal on the street is asked if they believe in liberty, they would say "yes", but they also believe in today's liberal agenda. A total contradiction.

Like free speech, they do believe in liberty - but only for liberals.

Of course they do. LIB is the first three letters of what you call them. Also they don't approve of the so called Patriot Act that significantly curtails liberty. Looking at the record over the last century I would say the liberals and progressives have an edge over the conservatives and a big, big lead over the neoconservatives.

We believe in liberty, we just can't prove it exists yet. It's kind of like china. I've never been to china or seen it or anything, but I know it exists. I hope to visit the promised land soon, that's what REAL liberty is about!

Self described liberals are unalterable opposed to liberty. They should be arrested for false advertising.

They don't know the different between, liberal and liberty, they confuse them self with this two words. They mean two different things, but they are bad to our country when you over do them....

It amazes me how republicans have skewed rhetoric to make conservativism equivalent to patriotism and liberty. We all want we think is best, we just don't agree with the same means.

yes, but it is confused with license because when self-fulfillment, as the individual defines it, is the supreme goal, then permissiveness must be granted by others in order for the individual to not be obstructed in on their path toward that self-fulfillment.
