Celebrities ? Simple men ? Musicians ? Political leaders ?
I just wanna know. I wanna have a role-model, a source of inspiration for myself and I find it really hard to pick one.
Sometimes I think that simple people who express no interest in material possessions and are satisfied with what they have are good. Then sometimes I admire celebrities. Then sometimes political leaders.
I don't know. All of them prove gulity of non-idealism at times. Simple people have little ambition. Celebrities are only interested in themselves not the people. Political leaders manipulate us for their interests.
Do you have someone who do you trust as a role-model in all that he does or says ?

I think, in the spirit of your question, you should decide what you think are the characteristics of a "perfect person." It seems you have found character flaws in every individual you have every met or heard of. Catalog the flaws you have found, determine and record the antithesis of each flaw. When you have completed this task, refer to this list of virtues often to decide how you need to change yourself to comply with it.

The occupations are not relevant, that's not how to get your role model. Of course, some occupations are inherently less virtuous than others.

I recommend reading "The Autobiography of a Yogi" which recounts Paramahansa Yogananda's similar quest for a personal role model, as he traveled around india to meet and interview his potential role models.

Trust is a funny thing, people, all people can do things to make us mistrust them and sometimes we can even do things that make us mistrust ourselves. There is good and bad in every person I don't always know how to see it, but I do good at trying. I think that if I had to choose someone that I trusted the most for me it would be me. I have to trust myself before I can trust anyone else and if I trust others I may be wrong, that is when I feel the most foolish! Because I really am a good person and really do try to do the right things most of the time and people take that for granted. I have a real need for truth and justice and when I find myself in situations that I don't know what to do about some times I make mistakes and I think that it hurts me more then it ever does anyone else. They use it against me and forget about it and it is always there with me.

Visualize yourself in 10 years, and imagine that you have become the perfect person you have wanted to be. What would you be doing, helping people, fighting for a cause, leading people toward righteousness?

Now that you have this person in your mind, use him as your role model. You can talk to him everyday, ask him questions like "What would you do in this situation?" or "Am I doing what matters most to get to where you are?" You will be astounded when you hear him answer back.

In my opinion, a decent role model is one that is true to themselves and everyone else. There isn't a single person that I look up to entirely, because everyone has their flaws. I just admire the individual positive traits that different people possess, and try to combine them together.

A. You might not ever find someone perfect, that doesn't mean you should reject them if they have a quirk here and there.

B. I find it interesting that you reject simple people b/c they have no ambition. Exactly what kind of guru are you looking for if you expect them to have "ambition"?

C. My role models are scientists and atheists (for instance Richard Dawkins) on a limited basis. Not for how they "live their lives".

a role model has to be someone who you admire naturally.some one that you want to emulate. it has to feel right to you. there is nothing wrong with having role models from different walks of life. it shows how well rounded your world is.

Men who are controlled by logic, and therein (albeit ironically) free to think. Seldom shall you find a man who is not the object of his mortal passions.

There is no one I put in that position except God. However, I do consider myself to be the "best" person in the world.

Black people are the "better" people simply because every white person secretly wished to be big & black. (Bigger is way better!!!)
