You are entitled to your opinion. That, I agree with. But to stoop to insulting someone is just a deperate attempt to cover up your own inability to intelligently argue a point. There. See? I did that without calling anyone names. All you can do is report these people for abuse. This forum is for discussion - not childish name-calling. I agree that some people ask deliberately antagonistic questions but in those cases, the best response is to simply not respond at all.

Because some opinions are not deserving of respect.

For instance, there are a lot of men who think that they should be entitled to have sex with 8-year-old boys. Are you going to speak out and say that you respect their opinion, just so you can pat yourself on the back for being "tolerant"?

It's my opinion that these men should be shot in the street and hung from light posts. Are you going to honor my opinion, and claim that you're just being "tolerant" as I fill the gutters with blood?

Yes, this is America. Yes, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But just because you have an opinion doesn't mean that I have to respect it, or you, if I find that opinion offensive.

I agree...intolerance is an ugly thing, but a lot of people practice it religiously. I am particularly tired of the antagonistic comments of the athiests and the christians, in regards to eachother's questions. But, i have to admit, that a lot of the questions posted seem to be antagonistic in spirit, too, for instance, "why are christians so dumb?" or "why are athiests idiots?"...a lot of the times people ask for disrespect because they are being disrespectful. I think, respect is golden, no matter what your beliefs on God are.
And the guy talking about child-molesters above does have a point, too...

There are some opinions that are so misinformed that they are a danger to both the opiner and those around them. In such circumstances one has a moral oblibation to metaphorically beat them about the head and shoulders!

You are absolutely right. I think it might be close-mindedness. Everyone should be entitled to their own opinions. If someone disagrees, then that's OK too. It's an opinion after all!

I think it is because they cannot stand that someone else thinks differently. Believe it or not, most people are very...ruling and dominant, and they expect everybody to follow their beliefs.

that's 'entitled'. And I agree. But if the opinion is ignorant, mis-informed, or just plain stupid, it's fair game.

I agree with you 100%! Unfortunately, there are those who don't see eye-to-eye with us and some of them want to be obnoxious about it, too.
