I recently saw on tv where a woman gave her uterus to another woman who could not have children. i want to know if this is something for real and if it is legal. If it is, I would like to have some information on this.

There is highly experimental surgery being done in uterus transplant. See for example http://www.sun-sentinel.com/features/health/sfl-prxuterus10feb10,0,7873870.story?coll=sfla-news-health.

It's likely a long time before uterus donation will be anywhere near mainstream. Also, keep in mind that the uterus is a pretty integral organ. Without it, you will go into early menopause and may require hormone supplements. Side effects of hysterectomy (aka removal of the uterus) include:
• Anxiety
• Depression, mood swings
• Dizziness and nervousness
• Fatigue
• Hair loss
• Headaches
• Heart palpitations
• Insomnia
• Irritability
• Joint pain
• Low sex drive, painful sexual intercourse
• Memory lapses
• Unexplained weight gain
• Urinary incontinence
• Vaginal dryness

Also, women who have had a hysterectomy are at increased risk for developing heart disease, arthritis and osteoporosis.

I think that is just a slang for being a surrogate mother. You don’t actually get your uterus removed and implanted in another woman.

A hysterectomy (removal of your uterus) is pretty heavy duty surgery. I don’t recommend it unless you are suffering pain. My girlfriend just got it done. That does not bother me because we don’t want children.
