Ok, I started out at 179. I am 28 weeks today. On Feb 21 I weighed 186 and today I weigh 190. Does this sound like a rapid weight gain.. the 186 to 190 in such a short time? Is 11 lbs total ok for 28 weeks? Do you think I will gain a lot more within the next 3 months?

Thanks :)

*PS. My doctor wasnt concerned, and Im not worried just wondering if I am gaining too much.

Everybody is different and grows at different rates. I started out at 179 , I am now 36 wks and have gained a total of 18 lbs. So you are on target with me but that really means absolutely nothing!!

I wouldn't be concerned with your weight gain. I lost weight in the beginning and didn't start to gain much until I was about 30 weeks. I then started putting on weight a lot quicker then the 1 lb/week that they say is "normal". I don't stress about my weight because I know I have been eating well, and maintaining healthy habits, so the rest is basically up to my body. Don't forget, every woman's body is different, and the way you gain weight will be completely different from the way another woman does. If your doctor doesn't feel it's something to be concerned about then just ignore the numbers and keep doing what you've been doing!

Oh and as a side note, by 28 weeks I think I had gained about 6 lbs over my pre-preg. weight but also lost 5 in the beginning. So you're pretty much right on track :)

At 28 weeks I had gained almost 30 lbs....so compared to me you're not gaining too much at all!

I worry about my weight too, but my doctor says it's fine. I started at 120 (when I should probably have been more like 130), and now I'm at 155 or so. As long as your doctor doesn't seem worried, I wouldn't worry about your weight.

Good luck and congrats on your little one. Not too much longer now!

no i had a few weeks around that time where i would put on like 1.5 pounds on a day but towards the end of the pregnancy you start putting on less weight,,, you baby is just going through a rapid growth stage, which means more placenta more baby more water and more blood running through your system, so dont worry about it, its normal i was the same and im still fit.. all belly, and milk makers LOL, good luck to you!!!

This is not a lot of weight for a pregnant woman. Naturally your body will gain weight and you must remember that the baby will weigh something also.

If your doctor isn't worried then you shouldn't be.

11 pounds isn't too much. Depending on how much water you retain closer to the end, you may gain more rapidly.

oh please..that is textbook weight gain. I wonder why your dr. is concerned about you. You should be gaining 1lb a week in the last trimester.
