im in a competition and i wanted to try out for the math team but she said i have to take calculus first (I'm taking it next year)but she let another guy (John) in the science team even though he hasn't taken physics and that gets me mad. WHY SHOULD HE GET TO BE ON THE TEAM WHEN I CANT!!! should i force my teacher to let me be on the team!!!

i would go to the teacher and ask her why he let the guy join the team and not you. and if she didn't give a good enough answer then i'd tell the principal.

What are the requirements to be on the team? Are they written down? Are the requirements available for potential members to read?

If you have a concern, you can speak with the teacher. If you don't think you are getting anywhere, you can speak with the Unit Principal or the Principal himself/herself.

Be prepared. Come with your "resume" Tell the the teacher what you can do for the team. Just don't sulk. She may have her reasons why she wants certain people on the team. Is it possible to be selected as an alternate or a member of the team that helps the others study? Then, next year, you will be more than ready to be on the team.

Just a suggestion.

If the requirements are that you must take a calculus class and you haven't then you know why YOU were not selected for the team..

As far as the other student goes, how do you know what classes he has or hasn't taken? Do you know all of the selection criteria? Is it any of your business?

Have you ever tried out for sports? Not everyone makes the team!

Is John a popular person or does his family have a lot of money? Is physics supposed to be taken before one can join the math team? Students aren't the only ones that have cliques. You should ask your teacher why he was chosen.

Geez...what are you, a whiney little baby? Suck it up! Take calc and get on the math team next year! Your teacher probably recognizes you're emotionally out of control and doesn't want to deal with your sniveling and lousy attitude! Ever think of that?

Dude, chill, you can't force your teacher to do anything. You have to talk to her while John is present so she can tell you why he's allowed to be on the team and you're not. Is John better behaved ?

Are your grades poor in other areas? Perhaps John is doing better, overall, in school than you are and can better handle the extra time needed for The Math Team.

Your spelling, punctuation, grammar, and organization all need work. I could see that from your brief "paragraph".

It most likely isn't discriminatory at all.

calculus verses physics.. hummmmm two topics and only one question.

you would do well for yourself if you put this energy into figuring a way out of this instead of into being MAD.
