my hamster's eye seems closed when he wakes up, and it almost seems like there's some sort of sticky stuff closing it. i need to know whats wrong so we can take him to the vet. we have paper towels in the cage, could that be it?

it sounds like your hamster is having analergic reaction to something in it's bedding. If you are using cedar or pine try switching to aspen, if you are using aspen try switching to recycled newspaper pellets or corncob. Taking him to the vet is probably going to give you a better idea of what is going on with your pet.

Don't worry about him! He's just like any other animal, or human when they wake up! It's a sleep. You know that gooey stuff, that you got in your eye when you wake up. It's nothing. It will go away on its own but if you want to take it out, get a ear cotton thing, put some water on it, and clean it. It is no need to take him to the vet. My hamsters get that all the time.

its probable just an eye bugger everything gets them... just wipe it away
