a day ago i got my period after getting it 3 weeks late. I had absolutely no cramping or signs of pms and the blood is very dark if not black. any advice? anyone know what it could be? i have often skipped periods before so that is relatively normal, but black blood? i'm freaking out please help!

There are a few reasons for brownish discharge appearance:
The brownish discharge in your cervical mucus could be the old blood that didn’t leave the uterus during your last menstruation cycle.
Also it can be a consequence of some infection, but don’t you worry too early, wait and see what will happen next.
If your period is late then it may be the implantation which means you are pregnant.
If you are using the birthcontrol pills, it also might be the cause.
Nevertheless, I think it is too early to worry about, your period is only a couple of days late, if you have had a slight cold it could have delayed your period.

It is probably just old blood in there since you often skip periods. I am not a doctor so I wouldn't know for sure. I know that the bright red is new & fresh so maybe the dark red to black is old. When in doubt call the doctor, they can help. But I wouldn't worry too much. Good luck.

don't freak out. dark blood is just old blood. i don't know how old you are? could be many reasons. LOTS of bright, new bloods is cause for concern. see the doctor. I'm sure everything is fine. good luck.

It's ok, just old blood.
See your Dr. if more weird stuff happens.
