You have picked a good animal to have as a pet. They are social and will play. They also will not freak out while you are at school. You might also want to consider a white rat. They are a little more active and will still be alright while you are at school. I chat with a girl in Belgium and she usually has her rat walking on her shoulders while chatting. It is playful, but ok when she is at school. And contrary to what people think, when kept as pets they are very clean.

Hamsters are known for being nocturnal. This means they sleep during the day and play at night. Depending on the hamsters personality, some may be loners, some may be very social. You need to train your hamster. Of course, when you first get your hammy, it will be very scared. You need to slowly introduce your self. You can rub your hands in the wood shavings so that he can get your scent. The more you handle your pet, the more he will be willing to come out and play! Also, do your research! What type of hamster do you want? How old? Check out this websites for all your info:

A hamster would be great! Hamsters sleep during the day so you don't have to worry when your at school and if you pick a friendly one they will love to play with you in the evening.(I recommend a male I fined them more social.)

Depends on the hamster. See link for different kinds of hamsters and their social behaviors.

It depends on the hamster. I've had hamsters that love to be cuddled and played with, and I've also had hamsters that hate to be held.

yes. hamsters wake up at night and sometimes chew on the bars to their cage, which is normal, but means they want to get out. hamsters love to crawl around, and a good cage will be good for when you're away. do not get a plastic cage, get a metal bar one.

Get a Syrian. They only need to be hand tamed once and are the more human orientated type. Or even better, get a rat. They are the sweetest.

Hamsters are solitary. They don't like to be with other animals.
