Since you're a volleyball chick, you may be able to relate to this. Washington State (where I live) is planning to institute a booing ban at all high-school sporting events. I saw a little news clip on the Yahoo news site this morning. Most fans are against it as it is one of the last personal freedoms we have to express ourselves at a game, but officials report that it only leads to fights in the stands that sometimes spills out onto the football field or basketball court and it needs to be stopped now. It would make an interesting report, I think. You could do some research into the soccer riots that happen in England and Ireland and even get into mob violence and it's causes. Good luck!

BARI, Italy (Reuters) - An irate Italian family beat up a principal because they were unhappy with the grades a young relative had received and a ban on cell phones at school.

Three male relatives, including the father and grandfather of the student, punched and pushed principal Ugo Castorina at the Lombardi middle school in Bari on Saturday, police said.

They were angered by grades on the latest report card and by a recent ban by Castorina on cell phones at the school he has run for the past 22 years.

Castorina was taken to hospital and treated for mild contusions. Police escorted him back to the school.

"Some people may not like it but standards must be set and rules must be respected if a school is to function," Castorina told reporters

WATAUGA, Texas — A 17-year-old faces a felony charge of injury to a child after police found a videotape that appears to show him and another man teaching his 2- and 5-year-old nephews to smoke marijuana, police said.

The video shows two children being taught to smoke marijuana and the men encouraging them to "get high," police said. A man can be seen placing a marijuana cigarette into a baby's mouth and, in another part of the video, a different boy is shown smoking on his own.

"The video contains disturbing images of the young children being badgered into smoking a marijuana cigar, commonly referred to as a 'blunt,"' according to a release from the Watauga Department of Public Safety.

The bail for Demetris McCoy, 17, was set at $150,000. He remained in jail Friday night, police said.

Police found the video Feb. 22 while investigating McCoy and Vanswan Polty, 18, in connection with some area burglaries. Polty faces burglary charges and is free on $22,000 bail, according to court records.

The children have been in the custody of Child Protective Services since last week, a spokeswoman said.

My mom just called me and told me she heard on the news that a mother was at work and left her 2 and 5 year old home with their 17 year old cousin and his friend and they were actually getting these poor kids to smoke marijuana!! (they were forcing them to smoke and the poor little 2 year old was stumbling all over the place) Talk about child abuse, they actually taped it and then somehow the tape got to the police and the kids got taken away.
