I've been selling things on ebay for a few monthes, but I was just wondering if anyone knows if it is worth opening an online store. What are the benefits? Can you list items for cheaper or longer duration?

the biggest advantage would be your overall exposure with an online store and the ability to track sales history of both items and customers ... a lot depends on the types of items and volumes of product you are selling also

Hi – I sell on eBay. It works for me. I profit about $3,500 a month. I have an ebay store.
You can list items in store inventory, if they don't sell on auction. Store inventory listings start at 6 cents for 30 days and you can renew indefinitely. Store inventory items have a buy it now price, or you can add BEST OFFER to allow customers to make offers, thereby enabling you to sell more items.
You can list more items, more inexpensively with a store. I pay about $15 a month for a store. You also get customized sales and traffic reports that are very helpful in learing how to market your items, determining which items are best to sell, etc.

Yes, if you intend to do business on a regular basis it will cost you much less to list your products if you have a store.
