The could mean many things. First is your child teething? Some children have diarrhea while teething. Also does you child have any vomiting with the diarrhea? If so then your child could have rotovirus which is VERY common at this age. These is no way to treat rotovirus but it is VERY VERY important that you keep your child hydrated with pedialyte (or the store brand. Same thing but cheaper) Now if its just plain diarrhea it can last up to 5 to 7 days with the 1-2 being the worst. You need to call your doctor if the diarrhea has any blood, is dark black or white, is just bile, or if the diarrhea last more then 7 days. You can also by some Isomil DF which is soy formula for baby's that could be given when they have diarrhea. The reason why a soy feeding should be replaced with a soy or lactose free formula is b/c baby's with diarrhea have very sensitive intestines and milk proteins can make it worse.

Most babies at nine months also snack and take baby food so you can feed your child the BRAT (bread rice apples sauce and toast) diet. Which is foods with a high starchy content. Cheerios are good and the little Gerber bread sticks.

I would also make sure that you are protecting his bottom with some type of diaper rash cream. Also when in doubt call your pediatrician. Non of us know you child's past medical history so if you ever have doubts call your doc. Hope this helps!

Is she/he teething? That can cause diarharrea. Also, have you introduced any new foods into their diet? If you still breastfeed, did you eat anything out of the ordinary? There are a lot of factors that can cause a little one to have this. Just keep an eye on it, and if it lasts more than three days, contact your doctor.

For you, it means lots of diaper changes...Just make sure to keep fluids in to replace what's being lost...Pedialyte works great. If it lasts more than two days or so or he just can't keep anything in, then I would call the pediatrician.

If it goes on for more than 2 days I would call the doc, but until then I would feed him/her a diet that will try to harden their stool up, like dry toast, rice and bananas.

it could mean many things, something he ate could be disagreeing with his stomach, he may have a stomach virus. put him on the BRATY diet (Bread Rice Applesauce Toast and Yogurt) if it is really bad give him strictly pedialyte along with the BRATY diet for 24 hours, no formula.
