Currently I'm thinking these choices but I'm open for other suggestions:

Fender Blues Junior
Epiphone Blues Standard
Peavy Valveking 112
Fender Hot Rod Delux

I want fairly loud volume but the ability to turn it down for bedroom practice.

out of those that you have given, THE FENDER HOT ROD hands down! It's loud, it has a nice overdrive and is a relatively flexible amp (there are a lot of effects that sound good through it). Also, you can't beat the bark of a Fender.
I would also suggest the Fender Deluxe. It is the most recorded amp throughout music! Kind of a fun fact. The Hot Rod is a great amp though...I'm not backing Peavey.

Check out musiciansfriend.com - they have some new Crates that I can't remember the name of, but they are tube amps, fairly low price and judging by what I read about them, I'll get one (the largest, 32 one). They have a sort of gold or beige exterior. I wouldn't gfo for the Epiphone, they're way inferior compared to Fenders, Crates or Peaveys. In fact, that Peavey sounds interesting, too, I'll have to check it out.
