If anyone knows, please respond. I'm really clueless! Is it hard to get into Ivy League schools? What are all of them?

Okay, a university is a large school, like the university of washington. Within the university, there are colleges, like the college of arts and science. Within the colleges, there are departments, like political science.
If an institution calls itself a university, it means there are many different fields (within different colleges), if its a college, that means it only focuses on one, like arts and sciences.
Yes, ivy leagues are hard to get into.

A University is a collection of different colleges. It's pretty much the same thing. It's really hard to get into Ivy League because grades aren't enough. You have to be active in the community, have like a 4.0 or better, and be recommended by a lot of respectable people. Occasionally some people get lucky though. Ivy League is pretty much all the colleges you hear about all the time like Harvard, Yale, Princeton

Contrary to popular belief, universities and colleges are NOT the same thing. College (in the United States) refers to an undergraduate education institution, which is a place where people go right out of high school, to get a Bachelor's Degree. A Bachelor's Degree is a broad degree with an area of emphasis. For example, you might have a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in English Literature, which would mean that you took general liberal arts courses in addition to a higher concentration of English Literature courses.

A university is a school that provides graduate education, often in addition to undergraduate programs. "Graduate school" includes Master's Degrees and Ph.D.s, which involve longer-term (up to 7 years), specialized study and research in one particular area, under the guidance of a professor/researcher.

Most universities also have undergraduate programs in the form of "Colleges" of Arts, Humanities, or other names. So, no, you don't have to go to a college before you can go to a university, but you do need an undergraduate degree (From either a college or a university) before you can get a graduate degree (which would be from a university).

Ivy League schools are incredibly hard to get into. They have an admission rate of around 10% (Some are slightly less). Which means that out of ten people who apply, only one will get in. A significant proportion of their classes are made up of high school valedictorians, yet they turn away over 50% of valedictorian applicants. Just to give you an idea.

There are eight Ivy Leagues: Brown University, Columbia University, Cornell University, Dartmouth University, Harvard University, Princeton University, Yale University, and the University of Pennsylvania.

Universities and colleges is the same, they are places of higher education. Colleges tend to be slightly smaller than universities but they are both places where you can get a degree in your area of study. Ivy league schools are hard to get into, they are very selective and tend to only accept a small number of applicants. Try one of these websites they can give you information on almost any school you want to know about.

In the US, Unversity and College are basically interchangeable.

In parts of Canada and Europe, College is usually grades 12 and 13 and University is after.
