Personally, I think he sucks. He's childish and playful in his movies, unlike actors like Jim Boluche or Adam Sandler.

I would stake Carrey's first Ace Ventura against any other comedy of the 90s. It was full of hilarious invention. --The nibbling at the tiny ear of corn from the salad, the personal fan pulled out of his pocket to propel the boat away from the dock, the whole "Well aaallrighty, then" thing, the spitting and gargling after he found out the she was a he... it is all LOL funny.
His turns in In Living Color as the sensitive artist boy person and the fire chief were gonzo hilarious.
He's like Robin Williams. He has slowed down and become a 'serious' actor. But he was a comic force to be reckoned with. The Jerry Lewis of his generation? Maybe. But funnier than Lewis ever was... more inspired, better able to sustain a comic vamp, and not just drift off into mugging and googooing the way Lewis would if he had too much time.
(As a great physical comedian, I'd compare him to prime Dick Van Dyke, rather than Lewis.)

I think Jim Carey is way funnier than Adam Sandler. Adam Sandler acts pretty much the exact same way in each movie. I do like his movies too though.

I agree with Chaosphere. He can play a variety of different characters well. A lot of his movies are classics, too (Dumb and Dumber). My personal favorite of his is the Truman Show.
Besides, good comedians have to be able to act like kids, or their audience won't have fun.

i dun think he's a good comedian. i think his face expression are too much i dun like him anyways. I think Adam Sandler is way better then Jim Carrey.

Comedians that suck don't make money. If Jim Carey makes millions as a comedian, then "Yes" he is a good comedian...maybe not to you, but to me he is funny.

I think he's a capering clown, Jerry Lewis has already done that and so much better.For the most part Carey is just irritating.

He was. Hasn't been since Liar, Liar. That was 10 years ago. But you can't deny that Fire Marshall Bill and Lloyd Christmas weren't funny as hell.
