MTV had Run DMC, Public Enemy and NWA. My husband and I totally disagree with 2 and 3. They ranked Wu-tang #5 and Tribe called Quest #6. They would be our 2 and 3.

i know im the only one who puts the beastie boys #1 but because of the fact they were white and icorperatd rock they brought rap to the close minded people who ignored rap because it was all black pretty much, they were also the first rap group to hit a #1 record on the charts, Liscence To Ill
and although BDP never had a HUGE record they were one of the first rap groups completely commited to send an anti-violent and politically consious message
