People bash quarterbacks and act like they had no supporting cast, they would have done nothing. Well open your eyes people, the quarterback who is the field general, still has to make the plays. They are the ones that get the ball to the playmakers, without a solid quarterback, the supporting cast isn't very supportive now is it?

Just look at the Super Bowl XL champ Pittsburgh Steelers. One year they win it all, and the next year their QB crashes his motorcycle, has an emergency appendectomy, and gets a concussion all in the same year and they don't even make the playoffs.

Next is the Patriots. As much as I hate Tom Brady, I've got to give the guy credit. He makes pro bowlers out of nobodys. Look at Reche Caldwell. I had never heard of the guy before he went to the Patriots. And their always right there in the middle of everything in the playoffs.

Then there is Peyton. So close, so many times, and with what? A terrible run defense, average RBs and one pro bowl receiver. As soon as they got Vinateiri I knew they were gonna win it all. All Peyton has to do is get within field goal distance and they'll score at least 3.

QBs definitely have my admiration.

I'd say collectively the offensive line is AT LEAST as important as the QB. You don't need a star QB to win a Super Bowl(see the Steelers and Big Jen), you just need a QB who doesn't screw up often, either by his own intelligence(Pennington) or scheme-imposed limitations(Big Jen.) you also need a stifling defense and an offensive line that can create running lanes and give your QB time. Not even Peyton Manning and Tom Brady play well under constant pressure.

Yeah, the QB is important, but he's also the most dependent position of all. He depends on receivers to get open, running backs to take off pressure, offensive linemen to give him time to actually do something and his own skills. The QB is simply glorified because he's the most unique and visible player on the field...

QBs are important of course, but you need to have a good OL before anything...they make the running game effective so that the QB can effectively use the play-action pass, they protect the QB and give him time to make the correct decisions...with a poor OL, you won't have much of a running game, and in turn will be in predictable passing situations where the defense doesn't even have to think run, and therefore can pressure the QB easier...and if the OL can't protect and adjust against blitz packages, then the QB can't make the best decision

I don't know why people don't see the importance of the quarterbacks! i agree with you totally. They are the ones who set up the plays, run the plays, and they are the ones who mainly decide if a team wins or loses. Without a strong quarterback and a strong set of defense a football team is nothing

Every position on the offence holds the same importance. A QB won't do good if he doesn't have good WR's, OL, FB or HB, now will he? A QB isn't above other players, he's at the same level with as the others on the field. Without good players around him, he'll look like he plays bad, which makes him look less important.
