My hard drive has 37.2 gig on it.

of course! as long as you didn't rob the SATA or IDE cable belong to Mr HDD. please ensure sufficient food (power supply) for him and his new roomates....

Yes. You have 2 choices
You can use it as the primary hardrive, and when you get your new system, format the drive and do a clean install. (Back your important stuff up and burn it to disk or a jumpdrive)

You can purchase a new hardrive, and make it the master, put it at the end of the ide cable and put the second hardrive as slave (change the jumper settings) Then I would copy the important files to the new c drive install, (install the operating system here)...then copy them back to d after you reformat the second drive.
This option is cool, as your saved files are separate from your windows and program install. If you get a virus, you can leave your second hardrive installed, and reinstall window without data loss. (Assuming you always save to the second drive) Then check you D drive for virus's after a rebuild.

of course you can just connect whatever you need and you'll be fine. if you want to REPLACE your hard drive i suppose you couldn't unless you have another port (sorry idk terms but i've seen a video on comps.) to place your hard drive in.
