I mean..no one looks at his life before his revolutionary days. He was a doctor and set out to help people who weren't fortunate enough. Before he helped Castro rise to power, before he went to Africa to help a country over there. Does his communist beliefs over ride the good? He hated America, but do you blame him? Castro got rid of our "americanism" if not Cuba would have continued to have been controlled by the mafia, politicians etc.
Why do we (america) always have to try and establish a democracy on other countries? Let them be.

I wasn't trying to say it was common knowledge that he was a bad. A lot of people just presume he was with out getting all the facts. Now I know I'm guilty of not having all the facts when I asked this question.
I guess I was just wanted to know where some of you stand.

Thanks for all your answers.

Ernesto was never a doctor, he quit school to go on a summer trek on a motorcycle with his freind, hence the motorcycle dairies. this is the time when his socialist ideals sprouted and he turned into a revolutionary. specifically with castro, no i would say he wasnt a bad man for thsoe actions, in fact he left cuba after he had been assigned as minister of agriculture cuz he ditn believe the govt was going in teh right direction. this is when he truly turned radical, fighting in angola and bolivia. during this time yes he was a bad man, he was nothing more then a mercenary who believed his idealism jsutified his actions

You ask your question as if it is common knowledge that Che Guevara was a bad man. I inform you that for millions of people Che is considered to be a hero, a genuine revolutionary with pure motives and good intentions (Fidel Castro on the other hand has not so many fans, I assure you).
