I agree with previous answer that our senses give us that ability to feel and know the world and help us realise ourselves in it, but I would add that awareness of these senses give us that advantage before animals and other living creatures - the feel of being alive and the ability to appreciate it. I think it's a great gift to be able to look up at the clear sky, take a deep breath on the warm summer night and smell the fresh bread (from the nearest bakery); feel the keys of your laptop under your fingers, see the letters on the screen,. When the person looses at least one of the senses, one feels less alive, and it takes a lot of courage to get that feeling back again.

KNOWING not just hoping, that I am loved and accepted for who I am, by both myself and my husband.
HIKING - being outdoors.
TRAVELING - seeing the world from another's viewpoint, and relating it to my own
HELPING someone else, being a part of someone else's life in a meaningful way.
