im currently doing my general education at a comunity college im 21 and i would like to know what kinds of stuff graphic designers do and how much they earn per year also 3d animation im undecided between these two

It depends whom you work for, just like any job, and where you will be living. For example, there is alot more opportunity for a 3d animator in California than one living in Ohio. A graphic designer has somewhat lesser creative jobs, like creating brochures for restaurants;you don't have the same creativity as if you were an animator.
