I can get on Yahoo. That's my homepage, but then I can't get anywhere else. When I put in a web address it just keeps searching and searching. Anyone have a clue what my problem might be? I'm not a computer person by the way. :)

You need to clean that computer. There is Norton Spyware Scan in the yahoo downloads and that will help you get ride of allot of lag (that is what you have is a LAG)

You need to do other things as well do a Scan Disk it will be in your start Menu under Accessories then go to System Tools it will be in there and clean out the computer of all the Temp files and a bunch of other things I clean mine once a week. After you do that do a Defragmentor as well it will help allot. Now that you have done all that do the Norton Scan and do a FULL SCAN and Cookies as well and you will have a cleaner computer.

Now there can be another reason your computer keeps searching and that is your internet connection is low. Or there are just way to much activity going on through what service provider you have. But still do all I have told you and if that dont work at all then come back and you can add more to this Question you just posted.

you may need to find a new DNS server. If you can, use a friend's computer to find a new one. On their comp, go to start > all programs > accessories > command prompt, and then type in 'ipconfig/all' in the black box that appears. a whole load of numbers will appear. find where it says 'DNS servers' and write down the two numbers (eg. 123.45.67.8) with all the dots in the right places. Then on your computer, go to start > connect to > show all connections (on windows xp). then right click the internet connection you use and select 'properties'. On the window that appears, click the 'general' tab (if it is not already selected) and then click 'internet protocol (TCP/IP)' in the list and click 'properties' below. in the window that pops up, select 'use the following DNS server addresses' and type in the numbers you got from your friend. Then click ok and try using the internet. hope this solves your problem

Your internet may be down and you are seeing a cached page. If you are able to click around the yahoo page and get new pages to come up then that may be an issue with the site you are trying to reach. Rarely would you be able to access Yahoo and not other sites like microsoft.com.
