I'm asking my parents if I can have an end of the year party, since this will be my last year in middle school.I'm inviting both boys and girls, and I need a couple ideas for the theme of the party. My firt idea was a mystery murder party, but that seemed too jouvinlle. If you think that idea is good, say so; if not, PLZ give me some more theme ideas, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! ~Ashley

I chose this question so I could tell you about a party my daughter went to last year, it's a Hawaiian theme so don't think I'm copying the other girls that said Hawaii.
K, they were asked to wear Hawaiian shirts/dresses. My daughter didn't have one so she wore a bright tank top, white pants and flip-flops. So if the guests don't have Hawaiian clothes this works too.
When they arrived her friend gave them flower lays and grass skirts, she had bought at a party store. They had a grown up dinner that the girl prepared with her mom that day with Hawaiian style desserts. They played games, you could do a search on games to fit your theme. Games at a party are not childish as long as you don't play childish games. Even adults like to play party games. Dancing is always fun. The house was decorated all tropical like, and when they left she gave them all a party favor. Again something her mom and her made, it was a tiny glass vase with pebbles min the bottom with a ribbon tied around it and a silk flower in it. You could give these to the girls or just set them by the door and tell them to grab one when they go, the guys can give it to their mom. She had a great time and it was very mature party. Dinner parties are good because they are a grown up thing to do. It should be easier to talk your parents into doing something like this rather then a party party. Also your friends won't think it's childish it will give them a chance to sit by their boyfriend or girlfriend at dinner. Or sit by and talk to someone they're interested in. Just an idea for you. What ever you decide have fun.

There are some excellent murder mystery parties around - I certainly don't regard them as juvenile (and it's been a year or two since I left school!).

You could have a wild west or a Hollywood theme murder mystery - see the link I've included below.

well, since it is the end of the year and summer is there, then what about a haiwiian theme? like all tropical and u'd be able to dress up all hot and in one of those skirts and have lais(the flower necklace things) and tropical drinks n stuff, and like a dance floor. i think id b fun and appropriate for that time of year!

Go midnight bowling. You know, with the blacklights and the music. Everyone likes to go bowling.
