I've often seen people talk about legacies when talking about college admissions. What is a legacy, and do they help with college admissions or anything like that?

To add to the above answer- Many schools will consider the fact that you are a legacy, and your parents/aunt/uncle/grandparents/ or even brothers and sisters went to their school.

IF your not a legacy, don't sweat it, if you are, you have a very small boost to your application.

A legacy is someone who's parents, grandparents, etc went to that college. It can help you get in if your parents donated lots of money to the school.
