My 6 month old is a good eater. However, when she is in her highchair, she whines the entire time. When I hold her and feed her on my lap, she's just fine. Any tips on how I can get her to enjoy her mealtimes a little more?

She normally doesn't want to be held...only when she eats her jarred foods.

Give her something fun to do in the highchair a few times, one thing you could do, is let her paint the tray with say, plums or something. When you do it, don't try to feed her at all, make it strictly fun time, and encourage her rub it, smoosh it, and if she puts it in her mouth encourage her even more. Next time try giving her a couple bites, then let her play for a while, then give her a few more bites. Of course this going to make a big mess so you might want to have her in just a diaper and have the bath stuff ready!

I know it might sound crazy and REALLY messy, but I had a baby at a daycare I worked at that also didn't like the high chair, we did this every day for about a week and it worked SO well. He got to the point where as long as he had his own spoon to hold and the feeding sessions were short he was just as happy as can be :)

What you could try is keep the food plate in your hand and keep a toy on the high chair, something that distracts your baby and you feed the baby.Sometimes i try to do the airoplane action with the noise, thats helps too.Give her few days she will get used to sitting on the highchair. Do not give up.. Try try and you will succeed.Best of Luck.

Do not give her any toys while she is in highchair, someone mentioned it, but that is the worst thing you can do - she will only get distracted and won't be interested in the food. Try to eat when she is eating, that might help.

Let her try and feed herself something - even if it is a teething cookie and you get the regular food into her inbetween. I agree with NOT putting her back on your lap. If the chair is hard, it might be hurting her little legs/bottom. Put her on a washable pillow - they sell them that fit the chairs also.

Give her no choice. Let her whine all she wants but do NOT put her in your lap. Eventually she'll get over it.
