I do.
The candidates are hiring consulting firms to revamp them to appeal to evangelicals. If you need to hire a spin doctor to make you look like a Christian I would like to vote for, you are a fake and I'd vote for the mormon before I'd vote Dem.

It is very interesting to me how many of you think that people should not vote based on their religious convictions. People should vote based on the issues that are important to them and for the candidates they feel will work towards the same goals. Of COURSE I'll be considering candidates spirituality as a deciding factor.
Both sides know this and if it weren't so important the Dems wouldn't be hiring their spin doctors. GET IT?!

You're right, Hillary Clinton is running around talking about "god" whenever she can. They still think they lost in 2000 and 2004 because of the Christian vote, and they're trying hard to remedy that.

Silly rabbit. Politicians are all fake. Do you really think the Republicans are upstanding pillars of the community? What about the Haliburton, Tamiflu, and Senate Paige scandals? Don't vote for a politician because you think God chose them, vote for them because you think they'll do an effective job defending what's important to you. The Republicans are no better or worse than the Dems; but if you value Corporate tax cuts as a contribution to America, instead of protecting the rights of individuals, then by all means vote Republican again. Remember, Republicans promised us a smaller government, and then gave us the Department of Homeland Security- the largest new government agency in over 20 years.

You voted twice for Bush and Cheney who are both proven liars and claim to be religious? A real Christian would not support the killing of over 250,000 civilians in Iraq. A real Christian also would not support the $ 2 trillion cost of a war waged based on lies. People who just claim to be religious but are not really need to hire a consulting firm, sounds to me like you need a Spin Doctor to make your own words credible. What a joke, "They still think they lost in 2000 and 2004 because of the Christian vote, and they're trying hard to remedy that." In 2000 Gore got 50, 996,000 votes, Bush got less, Gore won. Kerry also won Ohio in 2004. In both 2000 and 2004 the Christian vote was there..

No they aren't being fake. They just don't get it.
examples:
They could end the stem cell debate now. How? Very simple push the similarities between organ donation and donation of left over embryos. Joke that anti-embryonic stem cell advocates hate killing with science but insist that a trash can is a better method of destroying embryos. Yet they allow republicans to control the major media message.
George Bush at the debates last election clearly stated that liberals shouldn't be voted for. If I was a democrat my reaction would be an accusation that you can't be president effectively if you are against 30 to 50 percent of the people you represent. The democrats accepted and ignored Bush's statement.
They just don't get it. That is why I have high hopes for Obama who hasn't been in Washington for too long and has a good history of progressive work. He might get it where most democrats don't.
I am a progressive independent. I have no silly ties to these organizations to compromise myself.

You can tell what kind of a tree you have by looking at its fruit. No matter how they try to look like an cherry tree, the Democrats have been producing pears for too long for anyone to believe them. I have no doubt that there are Christians within the Democratic party. They just have no power to affect the party dogma.
It is sad that only the Republicans believe that character counts. It should not be solely a Republican hallmark. Recently, several Republicans have been held accountable due to questionable actions. That set the standard. Let's held both parties accountable. There is no reason we have to put up with this type of crap.

It does not make a difference. Evangelicals won't vote Democrat no matter how re-vamped the candidate. Democrats are for things like equal rights for gays and letting women control their bodies. These concepts are not very popular with evangelicals.

No I think some Democrats really can find similar goals as evangelicals. Certainly a liberal christian candidate can find plenty of things in common with any other christian affiliation. Have you watched Barack Obamas speech he gave on religion? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-tdM265j7Q
It a little long if you watch the whole thing, but very enlightning speech about religion and politics these days!
-Barack Obama was not schooled in a Madrasa...silly fox news

"I'd vote for the Mormon before I'd vote Dem.?"
Seems like you're voting religion. You are no different than an Iraqi voting Sunni or Shite.
One more example of democracy in inaction.

Well, trying to fit in with the blue-hair population is a big mistake. They wont fall for it, and it would erode the base of people who are fed up with our politicians cow-toeing to them. Maybe they just hired some to make it look like they were trying to reach out to the fun-duh-mentalist white, ant-gay, anti-choice, anti-environment, pro-war crowd.
