Really. Everyone is always like, "Oh yeah there is no God, and we just made Him up in our minds. There is no such thing." Really? Then prove it. How is it possible that there is no God?

I don't believe in deities and the word atheist describes this state of disbelief. I don't believe in deities because no argument or evidence presented to me in support of their existence has been convincing.

1. Biology adequately describes life and emotions without appealing to mystical invisible dieties

2. Astronomy adequately describes the formation of stars/planets/universe/etc without appealing to mystical invisible dieties

3. Geology adequately describes the evolution of the Earth, land formations, etc without appealing to mystical invisible dieties

4. Psychology describes the human psyche better than appealing to mystical invisible dieties

5. Appealing to mystical invisible dieties is an appeal to ignorance

6. There's no physical evidence for the existence of mystical invisible dieties

7. A myriad of mystical invisible dieties have been posited by emphatically superstitious societies and have been proven to be products of overly active imaginations (today's religion is tomorrow's myth) and ignorance.

8. Believing in mystical invisible dieties seems to become quite absurd when those who posit the mystical invisible dieties begin explaining why and how they exist in the face of contradictory physical evidence.

9. As scientific knowledge increases, the role of the mystical invisible dieties oddly gets pushed further and further back.

10. Mystical invisible dieties are mystical invisible dieties (ie can never be found by empirical methods)

God springs forth from the primitive limbic system of your brain, the last remnants of your reptillion past. The area where our raw emotions reside, including the irrational belief systems.

The 'religious' experience is triggered by deep depression, starvation, near death, or other highly charged situations. The 'born-again' christian phenomena has a scientific basis....yes, your limbic system. Why has man evolved this mechanism you might ask? Simple...it was a survival mechanism of our cave man ancestors to cope with a hostile and unknown universe.

The cerebral cortex is a more recent development. Here is where our rational and logical thought processes take place. It is here that the atheists have found their basis in reality.

In reality, there is no sentient, omnipresent, omnipotent supernatural being or force....therefore all the inequities and misery of the world will always persist, no matter how hard some try to get that limbic brain of ours to work...sorry

Lets ask ourselves, what is out there that is not man made. Then, ask who made it. And if it were aliens, then who made the aliens? And if their alien parents did, then where did their alien parents come from. And if they started off as small little microbes/bateria, etc etc, then where did they come from. And if they were from other microbes and baterias, then where did they also come from? And keep it going, and going and going, and then eventually, you come to a stump. It was like the chicken and the egg. Which came first. Surely there is an answer. But whatever that answer is, then where did that come from? What if you say that there can be no egg without a chicken. And there cannot be a chicken without an egg. Its possible to say that a chicken came first, and then it evolved and started laying eggs. And if so, where did that chicken come from? See, it had to have come from somewhere....and going all the way back to the beginning of their family tree, that had to have been one mom and dad chicken, but where did they come from? Eventually, you get to the point where, there are things that cannot be explained. Of course everything has a logical explanation. Just because we dont understand it does mean that its not a logical explanation. But, you ask us to prove that there is a god. Can I ask you to prove why there are images of Virgin Mary in variious countries? Or, certain signs? Just because you are not there does not mean that it did not happen. IF someone created these images, was it possible to create "such" an image that large without anybody knowing? First of all, is it even possible? And then, prove that someone made them. And prove that those images were not of the Virgin Mary. You ask us to prove something, and proof was there. So, we in turn ask you to prove that it is not real. But, I have solid proof. But the solidy of the proof depends on if you call it solid proof or not. I do say that it is solid proof, but it depends on everybody. This proof is not everywhere, and cannot be done right off the bat unless it is in a Catholic church. Even christian churches cannot do this. Here it is:
Every single year, in the Catholic church, there is a certain Mass/Church where a receptacle is placed on the alter/table of the priest. It is dried blood from a Saint that has already died. But, during the Mass/church, the receptable doesnt leave the table. It turns to live blood. What this means is that, even though that person has died, this person still lives on in heaven because the person was a Saint. This person did something good for the people, and so therefore was allowed to enter heaven. Lets say that I also have to prove what I just said. I wont get into detail so we can skip that part. But, you can ponder on that, and explain to me why dried blood can turn into live blood. You can say it was a trick, but then, I will have to ask you to explain the trick to me and prove that it was a trick. IF you can prove it, then maybe I wont be a Catholic for long, as I too am looking for the answers of life.
And why do some people live a life where they were born into riches and others are born poor? And then these people yell and scream at everybody and get their way all the time, and then eventually die. They never go to jail, they never need money cuz they have alot, and they are never in trouble because money gets them out of it, regardless if they just killed someone. Is this fair? I mean, you are born poor, and someone is born with millions in their pockets. Then what happens? Well, according to alot of religion, this is fair because they did do something to get these. But, you didnt, so why complain? Well, there is a god and this is what he created. Everybody equal, even though you might just look at the money part and say that it isnt fair. What if they would trade their life with you any day? Just because you dont see it doesnt mean that it is not what is really in their hearts. Some live a life with practically nothing. They are hungry from the day they are born till the day they die. Now loooking at that, is it possible that someone was born "junk?" I doubt it.

How is it possible that there IS a god. You're getting into some pretty heavy philosophical debating here. You're going against some pretty heavy suckers - Nietzche, Schopenhauer, etc. We've been debating this question for hundreds of years and I doubt, within a few paragraphs, the history of this debate can be summarized for you.

I'd recommend looking into some atheist philosophers such as those mentioned above for a real insight into proving the non-existence of god.

It's a personal choice whether god exists.

I haven't seen any proofs for the non-existence of God I find convincing. Nor have I seen any proofs for the existence of God I find convincing. However, since it is a concept that would radically alter an ontology, and for which there is little evidence, and given occam's razor, then I see no reason to believe in God and I do see reason to be greatly skeptical of Gods existence.

but it would take less than that to prove that it's merely POSSIBLE, as opposed to actual or necessary, that God does not exist. Since proofs for Gods existence are largely thought false, a good case can be made that the possibility of Gods non-existence has already been established simply through showing the existing proofs to be fallacious. or at least, the burden of proof has been seriously shifted.

Hey The Girl Plays Guitar,

Well, I can't prove that because I believe there is a God. To me it is a matter of belief / faith. Most major religions have God, and my belief is that there is not a God for each of those, but just one, and that God is for all of us to share.

Once when I rolled a pick-up truck, when younger, to me, it felt as if he put his hand down to save me. Silly, hard to explain, but my life did flash in a fraction of a second, it seemed like an eternity, and I can still see the fishing knife that stuck into the truck roof next to my head - flying through the air. The gas cap stuck out on this model truck and was ground off by the tar road. I got a scratch on each leg. Thank God, every day, life is precious.

My Dear,

It is impossible to prove the existence of God and just as impossible to prove that He does not exist. While I can come much closer to proving his existence, primarily by using first causal (check out "first bang" theory and those that receated it------because of this find, they believe that a God at the least set the universal into motion. In the end, it is still a matter of belief one way or another. What you are seeing in the world right now is one filled with agnosticism---I do not care if a God exists or not and refuse to discuss it

A god, any god observed by any religion is a vehicle for belief. Proof is not necessary because the God exists as the vehicle.
So if you are a religious person you do not require proof, as your belief is enough to fuel your hopes and dreams.
So now as an atheist I will show you why there is no God.
Lets simplify it- no one being controls the Earth- yes?
No one being controls the afterlife- same logic, Why?
Because they exist in harmony, life cannot exist without death and absolutely nothing controls anything.
God deconstructed is simply a deity to which we aspire, but certainly not one that controls us. It is an idea, nothing more.
If anything in this day and age our God is Technology- plain and simple. we allow it to control what we do, we encourage technology and we embrace it.

To conclude, there is no God because it is not at all logical. Focus instead on the here and now

It's hard to argue the existence of God when all this happens: the invasion of china by the Japanese in WWII, Darfur, Somalia,
the Holocaust, 9-11, the list goes on.
Then I go to the country or I see a child or a new york cab driver finds a bag of diamonds in his car and insists on finding the owner and my faith is restored.

There is a difference between fact and truth.
Fact is something that can be proved.
Truth is what you believe in.
I believe that there is God , the fact that he is there is because his message or his word is spoken through the hearts , minds , and mouth of people.
The truth of why that God exists is because he was forever alive in people's hearts and we ask for his help in our time of need and we praise his name when we appreciate him.
