I would say -- pretty much --- yes
there are only a couple of types of people that fall into this category called "public figures"
That being -- public officials and celebrities
In both cases -- the public has a FULL right to know -- at least WHO these people ARE--- and how else does THAT happen unless the contents of their personal life is at least SOMEWHAT opened to reveal the real THEM behind the IMAGE !!!
One might wonder about Celebrities in all of this--- because one would say--- I understand the need for people to know about what kind of person we're getting in a position of governmental power and / or representation--- but WHAT is the need to know such stuff about a celebrity---- well, it is of at least some interest to at least a strong number of people to know if they are supporting someone that has extreme beliefs or life styles that THEY don't care to be supporting with their hard earned dollar !!!

Don't get me wrong here though--- I'm not talking about a public right of INTRUSION into these people's lives --- And, I am all for their rights to the privacy laws of this country !! I , also believe that entities like poparazzi and other intrusive groups should be called to task for intrusions that THEY are involved in -- in matters of violations of those rights !!
