On me cell phone I get constant voice messages from wells fargo with a prerecorded message hoping I will apply for a loan. I put my number on the national registry and they stopped for about 2 weeks and started back up again. They even call at 10 minutes after seven in the morning, I didnt think they could call that early either. What can I do?

The Government has actually created a Commision(FCC) with Rules and Regulations, the TCPA (Telephone Consumer Protection Act). I have been in telemarketing for years (please don't hate me) and this will tell you everything you need to know:

http://www.the-dma.org/guidelines/tcpa.shtml

In regard to calling your cell. A new law was passed not that long ago, that permits such calls, even if you have no affiliation with the company. I know sux doesn't it!!

Don't worry, I no longer do Out-bound telemarketing, so I won't be calling you :~)

I've been getting this too, although it's an 'unknown' number and the message they leave is just a series of 'beeps'. I'm applying for the Do Not Call registry, but I'm not sure it will help me since the number's unknown.
Good luck either way...those stupid telemarketers are using our minutes.

P.S. It takes a month or so for the registry to kick in. After that, when they call you tell them you're on the registry and they'll hang up almost right away and never called back. It worked like that on my landline.

I thought it was illegal to make telemarketing calls to cell phones so I did a search.
From the Federal trade Commission's website (link 1):
"Telemarketing to cell phone numbers has always been illegal in most cases and will continue to be so."
and (link 2):
You may place your personal cell phone number on the National Do Not Call Registry. The registry has accepted cell phone numbers since it opened for registrations in June 2003. There is no deadline to register a home or cell phone number on the Registry.
You may have received an email telling you that your cell phone is about to be assaulted by telemarketing calls as a result of a new cell phone number database; however, that is not the case. Federal Communications Commission regulations prohibit telemarketers from using automated dialers to call cell phone numbers."
Your shouldn't be receiving calls from automated dialers to your cell phone, so report them. And put your number on the Do Not Call List.

Is Wells Fargo your bank? Because they are my bank as well and I never get calls from them. Did you request to apply for a loan at one time? If you want the calls to stop you need to put a block line on your phone and change your number.

If you ask to be put on the Do Not Call List and they are still calling and it's the same company you told to not call you, then you could tell them if they call again then you will sue there company..Note: It might be a different company calling and you should tell every company that calls you that you want to be on there Do Not Call List.

Sue them, Call them back and ask for a manager and make him/her take you off of the list right then and there. Make sure you document everything and you can get about $2000 a violation after that.

I thought you couldn't receive telemarketing calls on your cell phone cause you have to pay for minutes. That really sucks.
