I'm about to start a job as a biomedical technician at a hospital, I don't if i will like it but the only reason I got into it is because of my electronics degree. I know I want to do something else eventually since the hospital will pay for me to go to school, but I don't know what. I was thinking about being a X-Ray Tech, cause I know I don't want to fix those machines forever. Does anyone know if X-Ray techs get payed more or less than BMET's, or if the work is less stressful than a BMET, or basically would the move be a step up or a step down?

Here is the low down. On the scale of radiographers, X-ray techs usually get paid the least. Most people use X-ray school as a means to go into CT or MR (which is what I do). The work for MR is generally no heavy lifting except for the occasional patient and you pretty much sit in front of a computer. The 2 great upsides that I personally enjoy are the hours, I work a 3 day 12 hour shift week so I am off 4 days a week and the pay. When I first started MR 6 years ago with very little MR experience I got 20/hr., I now get 35/hr and the demand for techs is growing.
