well if only you use the computer you probably surf internet. those malware things can download to your computer without you noticing them, simply when you click somewhere on a malicious web site or open an attachment from spam email. keyloggers can be detected and removed by antispyware software, spysweeper is perfect for that, but keep it updated;) antivirus shouldn't detect keyloggers as it works with viruses only.

You probably can't detect a keylogger by yourself. Most of the time they get into your computer as spyware, unless a parent or other authority installs one to check on what you are doing. If you want to get rid of it quietly, get SpyBot Search & Destroy and Ad-Aware. Both are free from download.com, and together will clean up your computer and keep it clean if you keep them updated and run them weekly.

keyloggers can be installed from websites , but that doesn't happen often , most are installed either by a user or a spyware exe file attached to a file you are downloading , and can be a pain in the butt to even know you have one , the best thing to do is have a good firewall installed such as zonealarm where your personal ID can be protected

Hi. Scan with a program like 'KL-detector'. Some sites install them, and sometimes an un-trusting spouse. Or parent.
