you wave to a stranger only to find that they weren't waving at you!?

i find it more embarrassing when you wave at someone you thought was someone else and it turned out it wasn't who you thought it was...

I've had that happen. I end up cracking up. That kind of stuff is funny to me. I don't care really, so I waved at a stranger. I smile at them all the time, why not wave too?

I go around waving at strangers, only to look at them weird when they wave back at me

Not really - maybe they think you are waving to someone else too! Besides, if they saw you in store the next day...they'd never recognize you.
I only get embarrassed by things I KNOW people will remember!

oh so akward even more akward is when you think its one of your friends then you go hug them only to find out its NOT your friend and you've just hugged a complete stranger (i've done it before and made a graceful exit) jut pretend that you meant to hug/wave at them then walk away

i just did that today and the guy gave me a weird look. i looked behind me and i saw someone else giving me anthore weird look. i blushed and walkerd away.
