From what I've read this blinking red problem is because of your graphics card & to solve it you may need to download the latest driver for your card (or, unfortunately, buy a new one).
This site might help:

The actual glitches that are caused by Seasons are listed on the blog on the EA Games official site -
http://thesims2.ea.com/mysimpage/blog.php?user_id=3104068
But back to the blinking red walls - these links may also help:

Hope that downloading the latest drivers does help.

Hmmm, do you have any Custom Content? If you do then you have to make sure that you check the box that ask you wether you want to allow Custom Content to run in your game (A dialogue box will show after the loading screen to tell you about custom content and will ask if you want to run them, it only shows if you have Custom Content though).
Or have you recently deleted custom content that was in the game? That could be the problem.
That happened to me except my stuff was flashing blue.
Go to http://www.modthesims2.com/ and check out their forums to see if they have an answer to your problem, I believe they should.
Edit: BTW you could very well have a graphics card that isn't supported.

More than likely your graphics card is not supported or good enough. Please check your computer on Control Panel>System and you should see what it is, then go to Maxis' website or look at the box. If it is and this problem continues, reinstall the game and try it again. If this still does not help, please contact Maxis Technical Support.
