I think the Cubs can and will win the division.

I've been a die-hard cubs fan for 20 years, and I don't see us going past the wild card this year. IF we even make it that far, we'll be plagued by injury and a complete lack of team chemistry. Soriano will put up big numbers if he stays healthy, and the ever-streaky Ramirez and Lee (if healthy) will provide a great middle of the lineup. However, I don't see anymore than 3 reliable starters, and that might work in college baseball, but you need at least a five-man rotation in the bigs. And with only three good starters, and Mr.Injury Kerry Wood leading up our bullpen, I don't see much happening with pitching. Offense is going to have to carry us this year. As for the record, I see us winning between 75-85 games and coming up short in the Central behind the Brewers or the 'stros. The cards took a lot of offseason blows and I think they're overrated anyway. The central is crazy though, you can never tell. Despite all this, I still hope against hope that the damned cubbies finally do something worth celebrating. Or at least something that won't bring me to tears.

Id say they have a legit shot at winning the Central. More so than winning the wild card. St. Louis will fall off a cliff this year. The cubs pitching is fairly solid despite what others tend to think. Zambrano, Hill, Marquis, Lilly are a solid top 4 and there are several more than quality candiates for the 5th spot in Prior, Miller, Marshall and Guzman. The line-up itsself is projected as one of the top 3 in the majors according to MLB.com behind the Yankees and Mets. To say they are going to be as bad as last season is complete ignorance. They have a legit shot at the playoffs, but probably fall just short behind Milwuakee by 2 or 3 games. God I hate to picture Milwuakee having a good team this year. Predicted record - around 88-74...90 wins gets the division.

HEY HEY CUBS FAN!!!! I think they will certainly improve from last year. They may either win their division or the wild card. Good luck to the Cubs and their fans in 2007.

Hey Joe, before you pick answer for this one, do the math, some of experts here either can not add or don't know that there are 162 games to be won or lost in a single regular season of baseball
Anyway, I think that the Cubs have vastly improved their chances from the 2006 campaign. Look for a possible wild card berth. 83-79 is my early prediction

They will probably fall just short of the playoffs. Look for the Cubbies to lose a bunch of 11-8 games and for Ryan Dumpster to blow at least ten saves. And like the other guy said, the Cardinals will win the division no matter what the Cubbies do.

Probably Ok. Good hitting, no real good pitching. I say a little under 500, 490 tops
Hopefully in a few years they will be ready to break the curse

hovering around 500. i was watching basbeball tonight on espn and they say that the central winner could end up being below 500. so in other words, the cubs wont be doing too well.

They still lack pitching and their defense, especially in the outfield, is subpar. Jones and Murton have horrible arms. And after watching Prior today, they still have big issues.
I look for them to finish around .500. I believe it will take 90 wins to take the wild card this year.
