My son was a month old when he spit up what I thought was a ton of blood. It was bright red and slightly coagulated. We took him straight to the ER where they admitted him, hooked him up to an IV and didn't allow me to feed him for 36 hours. They then scoped his stomach. They never really concluded anything and he is a happy, healthy 6 month old now.
It could be a few things...
*Your blood (if you're nursing). This is the most common. Are your nipples cracked? Have you had mastitis or a yeast infection?
*Pyloric Stenosis. This is where the bottom of the baby's stomach doesn't close properly. This will require surgery.
*An erosion. Does your baby spit up a lot? Is it projectile? These things can cause erosions which can bleed and then be spit up.
*A number of other very rare disorders.
Take your baby to the doctor.

Unlike some people I am going to believe that you must of already gone to the doctor about this and had it checked out
Blood can be many things. It can be as minor as he /she was coughing very hard and it caused tiny rips in the babies throat. Maybe acid reflux as well from spitting up milk perhaps. It can be more serious things
Please tell me that by me giving you the benefit of the doubt that you did get this checked out

Honestly, go see your doctor right away. The brown stuff could be dried blood. Which could be a sign of stomach problems or colon problems. This is very serious. I don't care if your doctor says your son is "very healthy" or not. You need to go see your doctor right away!

Last night was a long time ago. Is your baby still alive?? Instead of being on YA you should be in the Dr's office or in the hospital. Your 1 month old can't do or say anything for him/herself, he/she needs a caring intelligent parent to look out for her/him. GET GOING!!

umm i know everyone else said this but y are you not at the docter...im about to come pick you up and bring you to the ER. I understand mabye u were nervous about going to the E.R but anyone who spits up blood should be checked out. This could be anything from your blood if your breast feeding...to something as bad as internal bleeding, or worse! Good luck and i hope your baby is safe .... you just have to act faster next time!

I am a nurse. Take baby to the doctor or call your babys doctor.
Your attitude has me very concerned. Very concerned.
Your baby might of been very healthy when the doc last saw him
And no one is being mean or not grown up by telling you to get the child to the doctor.

Get that baby to a hospital now that sounds like internal bleeding. Call an ambulance if you don't have any other way of getting to a hospital.

Why haven't you called her doctor. That can be something serious. I would have called the doctor the moment that I saw that! You need to call right away.
