Just heard soul to squeeze this morning - it came on randomly on play music - haven't really listened to many RHCP except their mainstream stuff so this one until now had slipped under the radar.

As soon as it started I immediately thought it was Oasis was going to fast forward it as I was never a big fan of Oasis (I much preferred Damon Albarn and Blur/Gorillaz than Oasis), I was then quite surprised to notice it was RHCP.

Although years ago a German dance group from the 90's wrote a song about this exact problem - Snap! wrote a song called "Who Stole It?" and the idea was to get back at all those people who don't realise that most music out there has actually come originally from somewhere else (you've only got 7 notes and possibly 10 octaves to create music with and some combinations of notes just don't work together! So you are limited - the only thing that adds to this is the instrument you chose to play it on).

There is one line in the who stole it song which I always think of when listening to rock music and it's quite funny to think about - "Heavy metal guitars made them stars but let's dispose them for what they are, Samplers! 'cos all their tricks are classic music riffs, aint that a *****?"

and of course all I can think of now is the Alton towers version of Hall of the Mountain King which they used to use in one of their shows at halloween (it's a rock version that goes more and more crazy as the time goes on and adds more electric guitars to it - not bad for a classical music piece!)
