Nuthin' tops Skynyrd! But my other favorites include 38 Special, Blackfoot, Molly Hatchet, The Outlaws, Marshall Tucker Band, Charlie Daniels Band, Mountain, ZZ Top, Allman Brothers, Rossington-Collins Band (the first band of LS members to get together after the crash), and Hank Jr.
If you like some modern country rock which would have easily been considered Southern Rock back in the 70s, I recommend Montgomery Gentry, Gretchen Wilson, Trace Adkins, and Big & Rich. Alabama was a great band as well from the 80s who were mostly country but had a real Southern edge.

IMO Lynard Skynyrd sucks. I love The Allman Brothers Band, Gov't Mule, The Band, The North Mississippi AllStars, The Assembly of Dust, and The Radiators (are they southern rock? Who cares; they're great!)
