In college, my major will be pre-med, and my minor will be biology. I was just wondering what kind of minor other pre-med students had and what kind of degree did you get? Was it a bachelor of science degree?

Pre-med is a STUPID major. If you don't make it to med school, what do you do with that degree? It is true, the most elite universities do NOT offer pre-med as a major. It is also true that medical schools do not exclusively admit students who major in biology or chemistry. In fact, they like to take humanities students; if you can excel in humanities and science, it shows you are well-rounded.

I was a pre-med. I majored in molecular cell biology. I did not have a minor. Instead, I did a double major in Southeast Asian Studies. I studied and translated literature. And my degree is a Bacherlor of Arts degree. I didn't go to a po-dunk school, either. My degree is from UC Berkeley http://www.berkeley.edu

So don't go pre-med. Study something else, take the medical school requirements, and do well. But take something non-science related to show that you're capable of thinking about things besides medicine.

A lot of schools don't offer pre-med as a major so a lot of pre-med students just make their majors either Biology or Chemistry- for me, I think my minor will be pschology because a lot of dealing with patients has to do with dealing with them emotionally as well (when people are diagnosed with cancer, etc. it's hard to cope) I hope this helped.
