I agree with Smarty. I have 3 kids, 2 of them are under 10 years old. They all have household responsibilities that a kid their age can easiy take care of. My youngest, age 5, cleans his own room, puts his school supplies away, hangs his coat and acts as a general errand runner..ex. put the dishes in the sink, put this in the coset..that sort of thing. The oldest, ages 13 and 8, help out with the dishes, the sweeping/vacuuming, clean their own room and are responsible for any and all messes they make.

Once the kids are helping and independant, its a lot easier than you might think.

The other big thing is organization and a schedule. If you and your family are organized (everything where it belongs so its easier to find) and on a schedule (kids really respond well to a more or less set schedule), you can get a lot done in a shorter time.

I completely understand your frustration. I'm a young mother of 2 (ages 8 and 6). I worked in the corporate world for 6 years before I finally decided to start my own home-based business. It helped me to gain the time and financial freedom I needed and wanted to be able to spend more time at home and do the things that my family wanted. Raising children is tough but I wouldn't have it any other way. It's the most rewarding job there is! Everyone has to help and be responsible, even the youngest children can have age appropriate chores. If you have a husband/boyfriend, he especially needs to help. Being a mommy is a full time job, but if you have to work outside the home, everyone has to be part of the solution, if you are not a part of the solution, you are a part of the problem.

It must be hard to find work with you kids, but maybe you could work form home. Thats what i do. Its not going to make you rich but it pays the bills. I lost my job about a year ago and have done this since then. Its all free to join (never pay anything to start up, if you have to pay to start up its a scam). I actually worked at a daycare for a few years so I could take my children with me. I had to have an income somehow, and working in the daycare cut my daycare costs. It is a hard thing to juggle jobs and family, but we do what we have to do as women.
