In 2012 I'm guessing the top 5 RB's will consist of(in no order):
1. Frank Gore
2. Laurence Maroney
3. Joseph Addai
4. Carnell Williams
5. Steven Jackson
It's hard to say where Tomlinson will be in 5 years. If he stays healthy, then he would no doubt be up there. And as for Reggie Bush. Never. People just love the guy so much that they forget what makes a true RB in the NFL.

wow, there are a ton of good RBs there so its tough to choose only 5, but here are mine:

1. reggie bush...in 5 years he'll be completely adjusted to the speed of the nfl game and provided he avoids injury will be an unstoppable force because of his speed and moves in the open

2. steven jackson...he's already one of the best in football, and is a bulldozer who can move the pile and has good hands as well

3. frank gore...if he can fix some of the fumbling problems he's had and avoid another serious knee injury like the one he suffered in college he'll be an elite back

4. adrian peterson...he's gonna be really good if he can avoid injury, because he can do just about anything with his blend of speed and strength

5. cedric benson...when he improves his ability to play in passing situations he'll be a complete back and will take over full-time for thomas jones, who wants out now anyways

well maurice drew for sure, he already proved himself this year, same with joseph addai, laurence maroney will be the patriots premier back after a good rookie year so him for sure, and then frank gore was a beast this year and i dont see that stopping and then im gona say someone thats not on the list but i think Michael Bush from louiville will have a good career in the nfl

1 steven jackson he was amazing this year
2 marion barber he had a lot of TDs and some yards
3jones-drew great fill-in for fred taylor
4 reggie bush down low because he blew it in the rose bowl how do we know he isnt gunna blow it in the NFL?
5 kevin jones if he gets traded to a team with a good runblock hell be pretty good
i didnt say cadilac because he played horrible this year and im notg sure about brown you did forget washington and houston 2 rising stars from NY

im gonna take one from off of your list and say willie parker. he is a playmaker and can break through any hole that the pittsburgh o-line makes for him and can break off huge runs. he is also one of the running backs in the league that barely ever get hurt. (knock on wood).
1st-Willie Parker
2nd-Frank Gore (best thing that has happened to the 49ers in years)
3rd-Reggie Bush (you saw what he did in college)
4th-Maurice Jones-Drew (amazing speed for his size)
5th-Laurence Maroney (took old man dillons job right from him)
There are a couple more i would have liked to see on your list like Leon Washington, DeAngelo Williams, and Ladell Betts (not really young but didnt get much love behind Portis)
