I have an oil stain on my granite benchtop. The bench is light in colour , like vanilla choc chip ice cream.
Any ideas on how to get rid of an oil stain which looks like has seeped inside the granite? I have tried bicarb of soda but it didn't work.
thanks

If its a natural stone granite bench top and not the man-made type of artificial stone, its porous by nature. I've seen professionals remove stains in marble by polishing it with a pumice powder and a large polishing machine with rotating brushes. The pumice powder can be purchased where they sell marble floor tiles. Call a marble/granite distributor to see if this method would work on your bench.

On This Old House, they used some type of store bought powder to remove the stain. I would try cornstarch or talc if you can't find the store remedy
