Now for some facts:
It is thought that most people begin masturbating when reaching adolescence. Many scholarly and clinical studies have been done on the matter, and many informal surveys have asked the question. A 2004 survey by Toronto magazine NOW was answered by an unspecified number of thousands. The results show that an overwhelming majority of the males — 81% — began masturbating between the ages of 10 and 15. Among females, the same figure was a more modest majority of 55%. (Note that surveys on sexual practices are prone to self-selection bias.) It is not uncommon however to begin much earlier, and this is more frequent among females: 18% had begun by the time they turned 10, and 6% already by the time they turned 6.

I guess you're not aware of the release or of the joy self-gratification affords.
At times there's nothing else like it. It's healthy and can be a source of stimulation between a man and his woman. There is nothing gross about it.
What's gross is living a life of closed-mindedness and being judgmental of others. Masturbation is as natural as breathing.

Well, it helps develop healty attitudes towards sex. Knowing what works for you helps when someone else is fumbling around with your body. Its often a big turn on for your partner. It helps prepare you for the real thing. Its very uncomfortable to be with someone who is not intimately familiar with their own junk. And of course, there are times when you just want a great date and the phone aint rignin'! :)

Because we're not cavemen anymore who can just have sex whenever we want. We have to worry about getting diseased or pregnant. So people masterbate instead to relieve that carnal craving to get nailed
