Yes, you do still have to pay child support if the mother re-married. The only way you will not pay anymore is if the “new” husband adopts the child then he has take on full responsibility for that child. But its your child and it’s up to you to let someone else take on the responsibility. You have to sign over your rights. So, to make a long story short…….as long as you are the father you will pay.

you know I was just talking to my friend about this and I just don't get it. Why would you even question that if you need to pay child support or not? Isn't it your child? Doesn't that mean your responsibility as well as the mother? What if you were living with the mother and child would you not contribute to the household expenses? Why do men think just cause they aren't physically living with the child/chidren that they no longer have any responsiblity towards their offspring?
I just don't understand!
So the answer is YES. You not only have to pay but...you should want to pay child support. Just think of it this way...your child is living a little better off financially with the help of dear old dad!!!

Why would you even question if you have to pay child support to your child. You should feel an honour to keep paying child support to your kid, and be grateful that the man she married has taken on the role of step parent to your child that is not even his flesh and blood. Even if the law said no you dont have to, wouldnt you want to support your kid no matter what, I understand this situation cos my own child doesnt get any support and she is 12 now and makes up her own mind and sometimes I see her pain. Your kid will appreciate and love you for supporting him/her when older. You divorce your wife but not your kids!

The only way you can get out of child support is if the mother's new husband adopts the child. Do you ever see the kid?

Of course. Look into the laws of your state but why would that not be true? Son or daughter, this is your flesh, not just some flotsam or jetsam that popped out of your wife's womb randomly. Your wife may have married someone else but she still thinks about and cares for your DNA-product 24/7 and will for the rest of her life. When was the last time that you allowed concerns about your children's schedules or needs to interfere with your fun? Oh, yeah, the money thing... that is interfering with something!

Yes you do. You are the child's father. An important figure in ones life. Besides paying child support, phone calls, letters, and visits boosts a child's self esteem, confidence and behavior. Don't you want to be the best dad in the world, in your child's eyes? Please continue to be a part of your child's life you will not regret it. No matter whom you or the child's mother marries. Best of luck.

Yes.

You have to pay child support until the kid is 18 or is adopted by someone else. The fact that she has remarried is meaningless, that doesn't change the fact that you are the father and responsible for that child.

Next time use protection.
